Pilates Linfodrenante® before and after: the real transformations of the women who follow the method (and what to actually expect)

I have a complicated relationship with before and after photos.

On one hand I love them. Every time one of you sends me hers, I stop, I look at it, and I get emotional. Really. It is not just something I say.

On the other hand I know very well how they are used in the fitness world: different lighting, different poses, belly pulled in for the second photo and relaxed in the first, filters, three months that become three weeks in the caption.

And the result is that you, reading this, feel wrong. Because you look at those images and think: “that will never happen to me.”

That is why I decided to write this article.

Not to show you yet another gallery of bodies. But to tell you what is behind the transformations you see on the site: how long it really took, what these women did, what they had in common, and above all, what you can realistically expect.

With one thing I want to say right away, before anything else:

None of these women did anything miraculous. They simply did the right thing, consistently, for as long as it took.

What a before and after photo really tells you (and what it does not)

Let’s start here, because it is the part nobody explains.

A before and after photo shows a result. It does not show the process.

It does not tell you how many times that woman rolled out her mat at 6 in the morning without wanting to. It does not tell you about the weeks when the scale did not move. It does not tell you that at a certain point she thought about quitting.

And above all it does not tell you one fundamental thing: an important part of what you see is not fat lost, it is fluid drained and inflammation reduced.

Let me explain why this matters.

When the lymphatic system is slowed down, fluids stagnate in the tissues.

The legs are heavy, the belly is bloated, the skin appears more irregular. It is not (only) a question of body fat: it is retention, it is low-grade inflammation, it is a body that cannot drain well.

When that system is reactivated, the visible change arrives much faster than it would with weight loss alone. This is why, in the transformations I am about to show you, you will see women who lost 30 kilos and women who lost almost nothing on the scale, but who changed visibly all the same.

They are two different paths. Both real.

The realistic timeline: what happens, week by week

This is by far the question I receive most often: “Carlotta, how long until I see results?”

And the honest answer is: it depends on your starting point, your consistency, your hydration, your nutrition, and your body composition.

But I can give you the average timings we observe with women who train 3 to 4 times a week:

After 1-2 weeks

Less bloating, lighter legs, better posture. This is the phase in which the lymphatic system reactivates. It is not visible in a photo yet, but you feel it in your body. Many women write to me exactly in this phase saying “I cannot explain it, I feel different.”

After 3-4 weeks

Reduced water retention and the first visible muscle tone. This is when clothes start to change, before the scale does. The trousers that used to pull at the waist fasten more easily.

After 6-8 weeks

Smoother skin, reduced cellulite, a more toned body. This is the moment most women take their first “after” photo and notice the change.

After 3 months and beyond

Lasting reshaping, a stronger core, structural changes that stay.

Note one thing carefully: the first two phases are the fastest and the least visible. That is exactly where most people give up, convinced it is not working.

If you are in that phase right now, hold on. Your body is already working, it simply has not reached the mirror yet.

The community’s transformations: who they are and what they did

I chose to group them by goal, because I think it is more useful: this way you can find the one that most resembles your situation.

They are all real women, with their name and Instagram profile. None of them is a model, none of them was paid.

The women who started from significant weight loss

  • Cinzia: 37 kilos in 9 months. It is the biggest transformation we have told. Cinzia trained 3 to 4 times a week, from home, without ever setting foot in a Pilates studio. Her words are: “I tried gyms, diets, and personal trainers. Nothing worked until I found Carlotta’s method.” I am not quoting it to boast, but because the point is a different one: Cinzia did not need to train more. She needed to train differently.
  • Giulia M. (@giulia.murolo): 28 kilos in 9 months. What struck me about her message is not the kilos, but this sentence: “thanks to Traininpink I started to love training.” And that is the real result, the one that holds up all the others.
  • Angi (@_angj_): almost 30 kilos in 3 years, with the photo in her wedding dress. Three years. Not three months. I want to show it to you precisely for this reason: it is proof that a journey can be long and still be a success.
  • Maria R. (@fortunatomariarosaria): 12 kilos in 1 year. Her reaction is my absolute favourite: “So Pilates doesn’t work?!… I regret not starting sooner every single day.”
  • Angela (@angy_borzacchelli): 7 kilos in 10 months. Angela writes something that is worth more than any number: “it is my appointment, my moment just for me.”

The women who rebuilt their body after pregnancy

Postpartum is a chapter of its own, and for me it is the most delicate of all.

  • Dora (@dorydory26): 10 kilos in 14 weeks, with a clear change in her postpartum belly. Her words: “After giving birth I am finally starting to feel good again thanks to Pilates linfodrenante.”
  • Carlotta V. (@carlottavolante): 9 months of the journey after two pregnancies. Here the part I want to underline is a different one: “Pilates has helped me, and is still helping me, not only physically but also mentally.”

If you are postpartum, one important clarification: you do not restart from the journey you were doing before. You restart from breathing, from the pelvic floor, and from the management of intra-abdominal pressure.

This is exactly why a dedicated journey exists, Pilates Diastasis & Postpartum, and why this phase is not one to skip.

The women who wanted to debloat, not lose weight

This is the category people talk about least, and the one in which most women recognize themselves.

  • Sandy S. (@sandyspurrey): 5 centimetres off the waist and 3 everywhere else. No number on the scale in her message. Only centimetres. And it is proof that the tape measure tells you things the scale does not know.
  • Federica (@federicalove12): one month. A single sentence: “I feel reborn, it was tough but I finally feel less bloated.”
  • Chiara (@chiaraga27): one month of Pilates and healthy eating “without too much sacrifice.” That “without too much sacrifice” is worth the whole article to me.
  • Gaia: 4 weeks were enough for her body to start changing. It is the timeline you see most often when the main problem is retention and not body fat.

The women who won the battle against time (and against their own head)

  • Francesca (@piccolissimaba): 12 weeks. “I am always short on time, it is a constant in my life, but your 30-minute workouts changed my life.” If you too think you do not have time, this is your reference transformation.
  • Ilaria (@ilaria_citterio): 16 weeks. “Pilates is my therapy. You have no idea how good it feels to roll out the mat and start the session. It is my refuge.”
  • Roberta (@robertacheri): 1 year. Her comment is the driest and the truest of them all: “Consistency and determination, results come with time.”
  • Giulia P. (@giulia.petri95): 3 years. “I finally managed to have, and to show, the body I always dreamed of.”

What all these women have in common

I looked at them one by one, searching for the common denominator. I found five.

None of them trained a huge amount

The average is 3 to 4 sessions a week, from 15 to 30 minutes. None of them did two hours a day. None of them ran.

The lymphatic system does not respond to intensity, it responds to frequency. It is much better to move a little every day than a lot twice a week.

None of them trained in a studio

All from home, with a mat. Cinzia has zero visits to Pilates studios behind her. I am not saying this to diminish studios, but because the real obstacle to consistency is almost always logistical: the gym closed, the traffic, the 7pm class when the children need to be put to bed.

None of them started at the hardest level

Those starting from scratch began with Pilates Linfodrenante® Beginners. It is not a question of pride: starting too high generates inflammation, pain, and giving up within two weeks.

All of them worked on their nutrition too

Not with punishing diets, but with anti-inflammatory eating. Movement reactivates drainage; nutrition decides how much inflammation your body has to manage every day.

They are two different levers, and you need both.

All of them went through a phase in which they saw nothing

All of them. Without exception.

Why the method produces this kind of result

I do not want this article to be only a collection of stories. I want you to understand the mechanism, because it is the only way to trust the process when the scale is not moving.

Pilates Linfodrenante® works on four levers at the same time.

The activation of the lymphatic system through movement

The lymphatic system does not have a pump of its own like the heart. It moves thanks to muscle contraction and breathing.

Every exercise in the method is built to create a pumping effect that helps the body drain excess fluids.

Diaphragmatic breathing, integrated into every session

When you breathe deeply, the diaphragm changes the pressure in the thoracic cavity and speeds up lymphatic return.

It is why this method reduces bloating and retention faster than traditional training. And before the workout itself even begins, every session opens the six lymphatic stations, the Six Cardinal Points, so the body is already ready to drain when you start.

The weekly progression

The journeys are not random workouts lined up one after another. Each week builds on the previous one, gradually increasing lymphatic activation and lean muscle mass.

It is the reason changes arrive in 4 to 6 weeks and not in months.

Nutrition designed for lymphatic health

Anti-inflammatory foods, hydration, ingredients that reduce retention. Training and nutrition work together, not separately.

How to take your own before and after photos (the right way)

If you decide to document your journey, do it properly. Otherwise in three months you will have two photos that cannot be compared and it will look as though you have not changed.

Here are the rules I always give:

  • Same time of day, ideally in the morning as soon as you wake up. Bloating changes enormously over the course of the day: an evening photo compared with a morning one will give you a distorted result.
  • Same light and same spot in the house. Natural side light is unforgiving but honest. Overhead lights create shadows that invent cellulite that is not there, and the other way round.
  • Same outfit, ideally close-fitting. Not a swimsuit the first time and a pair of shorts the second.
  • Same pose, body relaxed. Do not pull your belly in. Ever. Not in the first photo and not in the second.
  • Three angles: front, side, back. The change on the hips and glutes is almost always the first to arrive and the hardest to see in the mirror from the front.
  • Add the tape measure. Waist, hips, thigh, arm. Every 4 weeks. As I said earlier, centimetres tell you things the scale does not know.
  • Write two lines about how you feel. Energy levels, sleep quality, heaviness in the legs. In two months, rereading them will be the most surprising part of all.

And then put them away. Do not look at them every day. Compare them every 4 weeks, not every 4 days.

When results do not arrive (and why)

I want to be honest about this too, because otherwise this article becomes exactly what I am criticizing.

There are situations in which results are delayed or do not arrive:

  • Inconsistent practice. Two weeks on and three weeks off does not work. The lymphatic system needs frequent stimuli, not intense ones.
  • Insufficient hydration. Drinking too little is one of the most banal and most frequent reasons drainage does not get going.
  • Strongly inflammatory eating. You can drain as much as you like, but if the inflammation is fed again every day, the body stays in a state of alert.
  • Chronically high cortisol. Poor sleep, constant stress, and workouts that are too intense keep cortisol high, which favours retention and accumulation. It is the reason why sometimes training more makes the situation worse.
  • Undiagnosed clinical conditions. Lipedema, thyroid conditions, hormonal problems. If you have been consistent for months and nothing changes, it is not a lack of willpower: it is time to have some tests and to talk to a doctor.

In summary

Before and after photos are not proof that a miraculous method exists. They are proof that the female body responds, when you give it the right stimulus for the right amount of time.

Three things to take away:

  1. An important part of the visible change is drainage and reduced inflammation, not only fat lost. And it is the part that arrives fastest.
  2. Consistency beats intensity, always. The biggest transformations I have shown you came from 3 to 4 sessions a week, from home, with a mat.
  3. The first two weeks are the ones in which you feel everything and see nothing. They are also the ones in which most women stop. Do not stop there.

And if you are about to begin, take your photo today. Not because there is anything wrong with your body as it is, but because in three months you will want to be able to look at it.

Your body already knows what it needs. The rest is method, and that part is my job.
