Pilates Linfodrenante®: what it is, how it works, and the results it really delivers

Pilates Linfodrenante®. That’s a weird word, I know.

Maybe the name sparked your curiosity.

Maybe you’re thinking “How do I even read it?”.

Most likely you have no idea what it means.

Let me help you.

Pilates Linfodrenante® in Italian means “Pilates for lymphatic drainage”.

It’s the method I developed for myself. And then in 2024, it took Italy by storm. More than 200,000 women have tried it since then.

And I’m proud to say it changed their lives completely.

Maybe now you’re wondering: is it really THAT different from classic Pilates? And why does it work… if it works at all?

In this article I want to tell you everything: where it comes from, how it works, who it’s for (and who it isn’t for), and the results it really delivers.

But I want to be honest with you right from the start: Pilates Linfodrenante® is no miracle. It won’t make your cellulite vanish in two weeks or flatten your stomach in 5 days. Simply because that’s not physiologically possible.

What it is, instead, is a structured method, grounded in the science of how the lymphatic system works, and in the principles of classic Pilates.

I built it over years of study, testing it on my own body long before I ever brought it to my clients.

And yes, it works. It really works (and hundreds of transformations are the proof).

Real transformation with Lymphatic Drainage Pilates: before and after with reduced bloating, water retention, and more toned legs.
Before and after Lymphatic Drainage Pilates: woman with a more toned abdomen, less bloating, and a more defined silhouette after the Traininpink method.

Now get comfortable, grab some popcorn (homemade, of course 🤣), because I’m about to tell you the whole story.

Where Pilates Linfodrenante® began

The story of Pilates Linfodrenante® starts with me, and with my own body.

This was me back in 2019. I was a personal trainer.

For years I struggled with water retention and cellulite: swollen legs that got worse no matter what I did. I’ve never hidden it.

I trained with weights. I thought I was eating well.

On the outside I was puffy, heavy, and inflamed. On the inside I was a real mess.

I was living with a PCOS diagnosis (polycystic ovary syndrome) that I’d been ignoring for years... until the day I started to feel really unwell.

Every morning I woke up anxious.

My temples were pounding.

Whatever I ate, even the tiniest bit, my belly would blow up like a balloon.

Heavy legs at night, sore to the touch.

My skin was breaking out constantly.

I was seeing my physical therapist every single week because of constant joint pain.

Carlotta Gagna, founder of Traininpink — real result of the Lymphatic Drainage Pilates method on a toned and drained body.

I couldn’t keep going like that. And, more importantly, I didn’t want to.

When I finally started to really study what was happening to my body, I understood one thing: all of these symptoms shared a common thread.

Chronic inflammation.

A chronically inflamed body, with a lymphatic system that was struggling to do its job.

Around that same time, I discovered Pilates.

The sessions brought me a sense of calm. They made me feel better. And for the first time in years, my joints stopped hurting.

I fell in love with it, and I became an instructor.

That’s where the path that led me to build Pilates Linfodrenante® began.

Not as a product to sell or a program to follow, but as a tool to help myself and to improve MY body.

Within 6 months, I was reborn.

Only after seeing the results on myself did I decide to share it with other women.

My Italian community loves it as much as I do.

What Pilates Linfodrenante® actually is (the technical side)

Pilates Linfodrenante® is a method that brings together two things that usually live apart:

The foundations of classic Pilates

conscious breathing, activation of the deep muscles, controlled movement, mobility. These are the principles that have made Pilates one of the most effective methods out there for anyone who wants a body that works well, not just one that looks good.

Lymphatic drainage

deliberate stimulation of the lymphatic stations, paired with specific movements that help the lymph flow. It’s the kind of work you’d normally only find in a manual lymphatic drainage session with a specialized massage therapist.

As I studied female physiology, combining these two things felt almost obvious.

Here’s something worth knowing: the lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump of its own to move the lymph (the circulatory system has the heart for that). Lymph moves only thanks to deep breathing and the movement of your muscles.

On top of that, most of the lymphatic stations sit close to the joints. Which means that when mobility is limited, the lymph moves less efficiently.

Pilates works on these three things better than almost any other kind of training.

And that’s how Pilates Linfodrenante® came to be.

The 3 pillars of the method

When I built Pilates Linfodrenante®, I realized right away that the sessions alone would help, but they might not be enough. To truly take on what I was living through (and what so many women live through in silence), and to fight chronic inflammation, I needed a comprehensive protocol.

A Method, in the truest sense.

That’s why Pilates Linfodrenante® isn’t “just” a workout. It’s built on 3 pillars:

Pillar 1 - Pilates sessions

The Pilates sessions. Every session is structured to activate the lymphatic system step by step: you begin by opening the lymphatic stations (what I call the “Big Six”), then move through Pilates exercises that follow the right sequence to tone the body and push the lymph toward its drainage points. You close with a quick stretch and a few deep breaths.

I dive deep into the Big Six here: DIY lymphatic drainage: the 6 points to activate every morning in 2 minutes

Every exercise is deliberate, nothing is left to chance.

Pillar 2 - Lifestyle

Every week, on day 2 of each Journey, you’ll find one specific lifestyle tip to follow.

  • Hydration
  • Anti-Inflammatory eating
  • Sleep
  • Stress management
  • Daily hygiene.

Nothing drastic, no rigid diet.

Just small, simple habits that, paired with the Pilates sessions, make the difference between a body that trains and a body that truly changes.

If you’d like to go deeper on the nutrition side, I wrote an article on the “4 healthy habits that are actually inflaming you"

Pillar 3 - Mobility and self-massage

Sessions dedicated to

  • releasing deep tension
  • working on joint mobility
  • self-massaging the areas where lymph tends to pool

They’re the finishing touch on the work you do in your workouts.

Why it’s called “Linfodrenante”

Let’s start with the name itself. As I already mentioned, in Italian, Linfodrenante means “lymph-draining.”

And to understand why the method carries that name, you need to understand how the lymphatic system works.

The lymphatic system is the body’s “drainage network.” Its job is to:

•Drain excess fluid from the tissues

•Carry off cellular waste

•Support the immune system

•Absorb fats from the intestine

Unlike blood, lymph has no pump of its own, the way blood has the heart.

Lymph moves only thanks to two things:

1.The contraction of your muscles (especially the deep ones)

2.Your breathing, through the movement of the diaphragm (the breathing muscle)

Pilates Linfodrenante® actively stimulates both of these mechanisms, through specific exercises and conscious breathing.

The female lymphatic system: lymph nodes and lymphatic vessels distributed near the joints.

When these two mechanisms aren’t working well (because we sit all day, our shoulders are hunched, we breathe poorly, we don’t drink enough, we’re constantly stressed…), the lymph slows down.

Fluid builds up. Stagnation sets in. The body becomes inflamed.

That’s exactly why it works where other methods don’t: it addresses the physiological cause, not just the visible symptoms.

Well begun is half done

Every session opens by stimulating the main lymphatic stations, the “Big Six.”

It’s not a random warm-up. It’s the preparation your body needs to be in the best possible condition to drain.

If you want to understand exactly how they work, you’ll find the dedicated article here: DIY lymphatic drainage: the 6 points to activate every morning in 2 minutes

What changes when you start (the real results)

I want to be honest about what you can expect, and how long it takes.

I know how frustrating it is to wait for results that never seem to come.

What changes early on (the first 2-3 weeks)

  • Less overall bloating (your belly, your face in the morning)
  • Steadier energy throughout the day
  • Deeper sleep
  • A sense of “breathing better”
  • Less neck tension and less tightness across the upper back

What changes with more time (the first 2-3 months)

  • Your body shape: more overall tone, less bloating
  • Your skin: less hormonal acne, a more even tone, fewer breakouts
  • Your hair: less shedding, more shine
  • Posture: more open shoulders, an aligned pelvis, a more relaxed back I went deeper into why posture, bloating, and cellulite go hand in hand in this article
  • You look at yourself in the mirror and you smile

What changes after 6 months

  • Your body shape: weight loss in the most stubborn areas (outer thighs, love handles, saddlebags)
  • Posture: toning of the deep muscles that make all the difference for the way you hold yourself
  • Menstrual cycles: for many women, lighter pre-menstrual symptoms (bloating, cramps)
  • Cellulite: visibly reduced in the areas where drainage was poorest

What doesn’t change (and I want to be clear about this)

  • It’s not a method for losing weight in a week. If you’re searching for “how to lose 5 kg in 7 days,” this isn’t it.
  • It’s not a method for building a lot of muscle. If you want to put on 5 kg of lean mass, very pronounced glutes, and a muscular back, you’ll also need dedicated strength training at the gym (of course you can do both!).
  • It’s not a medical treatment. If you have diagnosed conditions (PCOS, endometriosis, insulin resistance, thyroid issues), Pilates Linfodrenante® can support your journey, but it doesn’t replace medical diagnosis and treatment.

Who Pilates Linfodrenante® is for (and who it isn’t for)

It’s an especially good fit for:

  • Women with chronic bloating, water retention, or heavy legs
  • Anyone living with PCOS, insulin resistance, or thyroiditis (as support, not as a cure)
  • Anyone who has trained with weights for years without seeing REAL results
  • Anyone dealing with lipedema or lymphedema (Pilates Linfodrenante® is one of the few training methods that brings tangible results in these conditions)
  • Anyone with compromised posture, constant back pain, or neck tension
  • Anyone who has never done any sport and wants to start with a method designed for the female body (beginning with Pilates Linfodrenante® Beginners)

In every borderline case (complex conditions, specific medical situations, recovery from surgery, cancer), it’s always best to talk things through with your own doctor before you start.

How to get started

In the app you’ll find all the Pilates Linfodrenante® Journeys, organized by need:

  • Pilates Linfodrenante®: the method in its purest form; intermediate level, no equipment. Just you and your mat
  • Pilates Linfodrenante® Beginners: if you’re starting from zero, or you’ve never done Pilates before
  • Pilates Linfodrenante® Express: if you’re always on the run and short on time; one 15-minute session a day. Intermediate level, no equipment

To figure out which Journey is right for you, I’ve put together a 2-minute quiz that points you to the Journey best matched to your starting point and your goals.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to have done Pilates before I can start?

No. The “Pilates Linfodrenante® Beginners” Journey is designed precisely for those starting from scratch. You begin with the basics, building strength and stamina session after session.

  • How many times a week do I need to do Pilates Linfodrenante® to see results?

It depends on the specific Journey.

For 30-minute sessions, ideally 2-3 of them a week.
For the 15-minute sessions, I’d suggest at least 4-5 a week.

But I want one thing to be clear: even just 1-2 sessions make a difference — it’ll simply take a little longer to see results. Consistency always beats intensity.

  • Can I do Pilates Linfodrenante® even if I’m on my period, pregnant, or have recently given birth?

On your period: yes, absolutely every Journey is fine, and they often even help ease pre-menstrual symptoms.

For pregnancy and the postpartum phase, I’m preparing dedicated Journeys, because those moments deserve exercises built specifically and safely for them: the postpartum Journey arrives in July, and the pregnancy Journey by the end of the year. If that’s where you are right now, I’d gently suggest waiting for the Journey made for you.

  • Does it really work for lipedema?

Yes, it’s one of the few training methods that brings tangible results with lipedema.

It’s not a cure (lipedema is a chronic condition of the fatty tissue), but consistent lymphatic drainage and deep muscle activation reduce the symptoms (swelling, tenderness to the touch, heaviness). So many women with lipedema write to tell me they’ve finally found a workout that helps them improve their situation.

  • Can I walk every day if I’m doing Pilates Linfodrenante®?

Of course! Walking is one of the cornerstones of Pilates Linfodrenante®.

In every Journey (except Express, for time reasons), you’ll always find 2 walking sessions a week — but if you have the time, you can walk every day. Walking does so much to improve venous and lymphatic circulation, because it activates the muscle pumps in your feet and calves.

  • Can I keep doing other sports while I do Pilates Linfodrenante®?

Of course, you can absolutely keep up other sports like tennis, padel, or yoga.

I’d steer you away from workouts with jumping or running, since they could undermine how well your Journey works (they tend to worsen circulation)

  • Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes. No strings attached. And your subscription always comes with a 30-day “satisfied or your money back” guarantee. No awkward questions.

In short

Pilates Linfodrenante® isn’t your typical Pilates. But it isn’t a miracle solution either, and it doesn’t promise to turn your life (and your body) upside down in 7 days.

It’s a structured method, built on female physiology, that takes care of your body:

  • inflammation
  • circulation
  • drainage
  • stubborn fat
  • mobility

And when these inner factors improve, our body changes right along with them.

It’s the method I built, with care, for my own body. And one that, to date, has been put to the test by more than 200,000 women in Italy.
